The world upside down

Difficult times for restoration. Empty, cold and lonely kitchens. At this time of year, we are usually off after a long and intense season. We warm up our engines again in February to resume what we do best, opening the doors of our house to welcome you. This 2020 everything is different. Many months stoically enduring a difficult situation between resignation, resilience and humor to endure the deafening silence. Life goes on, with its setbacks, difficulties and of course illusions. Couples in love who visit us to get married, reservations blocked in a planning full of weddings and a 2021 full of hope for what is to come.

In a year when everything is upside down, we also turned our savoire-faire on its head. And so, a bit by chance and without much thought, we got to work to bring Can Ribas cuisine to your homes.

Óscar, the chef, stripped of a silenced kitchen for too long, verbalized his “I need to cook” and thus, simply and plainly, a Christmas menu was created to take away and give the kitchen a boost. For five days, the noise of the dishwasher became louder again. Hurry, hurry, more orders, the fire alive, everyone with the apron, some labeling, others bagging, the chef chopping, cutting and flambéing, Toni with his three hundred suzzete crêpes to package, béchamel without stopping, the xup xup of the sofrito, the “pilota de l’escudella”… and with our hands in the dough and between nervous laughter we told Óscar that all the chips were in his box. Now there was no room team welcoming the diner, dream gardens in this magical environment or the experience of crossing that path of cypresses to let yourself be carried away in that “I’ll take care of you” – of you – that is not said and felt at the same time. reach Can Ribas.

He, with the pressure always behind him, smiled calmly.

We are not going to fool ourselves. Having you at home to serve you and making your time here unforgettable is what suits us, but being able to make you enjoy it from a distance is the best.

Thank you to all of you who have trusted -again- in Can Ribas.

Congratulations Oscar for making cooking an experience in itself.

Let’s go for Three Kings Day, our pularda and truffle cannelloni at your house.
